Orthodontics
Orthodontics is an area of dentistry that helps us in the study, prevention and correction of dental problems such as deviation in the position of the teeth, crowding or diastema (spaces between the teeth), problems with the bite or dental arch, aiming to establishing a balance between the form and function of the oral cavity while improving facial aesthetics
Orthodontic treatment achieves a more harmonious facial profile and proper chewing
Orthodontic therapy helps to preserve your natural tooth structure to the maximum and allow a minimally invasive approach in case of further reconstructive aesthetic work (dental crowns or veneers).
In addition to a beautiful smile, orthodontic treatment achieves a more harmonious facial profile and proper chewing. The sole goal of an orthodontic treatment is to contribute to the patient’s well-being and to improve the function and aesthetics of the teeth.
Orthodontics is applicable to both children and adults and is an equally popular treatment with both groups, although children’s orthodontics enables more effective results compared to adult orthodontics because it can be applied during the development of bone structures. During this type of treatment, we cooperate with an orthodontist and guide him through the patient’s treatment plan where every phase, duration and end goal are digitally planned in advance.
Digital Smile Design in orthodontics
The process begins with Digital Smile Design, which defines the future positions of the teeth according to functional and aesthetic rules. Depending on your case, during this stage we will see whether mobile orthodontics (aligners) or fixed orthodontic braces are better suited for you.
These are also instructions given to the orthodontist about the end point of your treatment, which is managed and communicated multidisciplinary throughout its duration by both the Dentorium team and your orthodontist in order to achieve the ideal function and aesthetics, all with a minimally invasive approach for your teeth.
Here at Dentorium, we believe that a smile should match the physical characteristics of your face, as well as your personality, and Digital Smile Design technology makes it all possible.
Are you a candidate for orthodontic treatment?
While orthodontic treatments were once mostly reserved for children and younger patients, with the development of technology in dentistry and the appearance of invisible or transparent braces (aligners), the age limit has completely disappeared. Although it is recommended to visit an orthodontist already at the age of 6, when the first permanent molars begin to grow, orthodontic treatment is intended for all patients, regardless of age, who suffer from misaligned teeth, an improper bite, or need it as a treatment that precedes a more complex dental procedure.
It should be noted that irregular teeth, in addition to being aesthetically unattractive, may cause major oral problems because such teeth are excessively worn, which can cause damage to the teeth and jeopardize your oral health.
It is always better to be safe than sorry!
Types of orthodontic treatments in Dentorium
There are different types of orthodontics depending on the technique and material used, and the choice is most often made in accordance with aesthetics and price, but it depends on the needs of each patient. At Dentorium, we use orthodontic treatments with classic fixed metal braces and transparent braces. In orthodontic treatments, we collaborate with an orthodontist and guide him through the patient’s treatment plan where every phase, duration and end goal are digitally planned in advance.
Classic metal braces
Fixed braces are traditional orthodontics, known as metal braces that rest on the teeth and use a metal support. One of the main advantages of metal braces, except being more affordable than other orthodontic options, is that the material they are made of makes them very resistant. In addition to metal, braces can also be made of other materials that are more aesthetically acceptable for the patient, but in any case, they restore a balanced smile after the treatment is completed. The process of teeth straightening with fixed braces last for approximately 18 to 24 months.
Transparent (invisible) braces
The main reason for orthodontic treatments being popular among adults can be found in the development of technology in the dental world, which has brought a revolution in the approach and solution of orthodontic problems in all age groups with invisible braces for teeth straightening. Invisible braces are one of the best options because they use invisible plastic aligners, an ideal solution for patients who are looking for a more discreet orthodontic solution.
It is a set of invisible splints that are individually adjusted to each tooth, they are invisible to the naked eye and are more comfortable to wear because the movement on the teeth is smoother. They need to be changed approximately every two weeks, they are custom-made for each patient and each splint is specially designed to produce a certain tooth movement.
Another great advantage compared to metal braces is that the aligners can be removed when eating and when brushing the teeth, which makes it much easier to maintain oral hygiene.
