Teeth splints are custom-made, based on impressions of the patient’s upper or lower jaw, in order to relieve and stabilize the jaw joint and the muscles necessary for chewing.
Wearing a teeth splint relaxes mouth and jaw muscles and ligaments, relieving the feeling of tension and tightness in the face. They are a great protection for teeth that are unfortunately worn down by clenching or grinding, preventing uneven edges and the feeling of pain in the future.
For best efficiency and results, teeth splints are worn by night, while we sleep. However, it is recommended to use them whenever you can during the day.
There are different types of night guards designed to separate the teeth, limit jaw movement and relax the muscles. While being an ideal solution for bruxism, they also help with snoring problems and can have a protective function – sports splints that protect the teeth from potential injury.
